Moiseyev Russian Dance Company

Red Square Projects undertook the most ambitious project - promoting and organising the UK tour of the Moiseyev Russian Dance Company. This company ought to be on the agenda of any British follower of Russian ballet. Moiseyev's troupe boasts dancers to challenge the Bolshoi and the Kirov, as well as a repertory that is pure fun.

During the preparation for the event Red Square Projects organised two press conferences one in the Russian Embassy in London and another in the British Embassy in Moscow. The British Ambassador Sir Roderick Lynn said he was thrilled that this major piece of Russian art and heritage could be appreciated by British audiences.

The most spectacular dancing extravaganza came to London. Only five performances of this unique dancing troupe took place in Hammersmith Apollo 3-7 November 2002. Moiseyev Russian Dance Company brought their dazzling performance to the UK after great success in South Africa and USA.

The magnificent repertoire of more than 250 dances from all over the world now includes bravado" dances of Bulgaria, the "staccato" dances of Check Republic, the krakowiak of Poland, the czardas of Hungary, the ribbon dance of Japan, the Sicilian Tarantella, the Spanish jota, the malamba and the gaucho dances of Argentine, the dances of the Mexican veracruzanos, Chinese and Indian ritual dances and the beat of American jazz and rock-n-roll.
